The weekend felt like a breeze that just merely brushed past all of us. I keep thinking that the weekends are TONS longer but hey, tomorrow's monday already!

I don't recall weekends going this fast!

Perhaps it's the dread of going to school because of the sing-song tune of the teacher's voice and the endless stress of creating tons of dishes in a few hours.

But one thing's for sure : everyday's never the same!

It's true! Every single day, we learn different things, create different dishes, learn different cuts, get different assignments. It just feels more refreshing than last year with the whole POM, OB, Econs etc. Life in the kitchen is never the same despite the pressure you have to go through all the time!

Plus, with an excellent buddy, it makes things a whole lot more fun(:

I didn't get Eric as my buddy ( thank god ), but hey! He does help me tons when me and my buddy needs help with cleaning up, with our sauces and stocks and broths...

Anyway, my buddy's hwee hong, and she's really nice! :D She's quite supportive and she helps me a lot. Remember my list of things that a buddy should have? :D Lets see which she has!

2. Please contact me asap if you have either:
a) Difficulty reaching the destinated area on time or;
b) if you are feeling unwell.

3. Always be punctual!

4. Inform me bout your whereabouts once in a while.

6. Please remember your deadlines and oh, help remind each other :D

7. Don't get me into trouble for either doing something wrong OR forgetting your deadlines OR for being late OR for not coming to school without some weird reason.

8. I know they're getting repeatative so all I want to say is, please be punctual at all times, be responsible and of course, keep your handphone with you at all times. I'm serious.

:D see see she qualified for most of it even though she didn't read my requirements X) She failed 2 though, which is the handphone at all times and the smsing me when she wakes because when she changes, her phone isn't with her (obviously). But guess what! Me too! :D So she's excused ;)

As for the waking up, we forget too so nevermind! She's excused again! :D As long as she tells me where she is (:

The one thing she does best is to remind me what to do! :D She really does it like tell me to read my recipes, to revise... Not bad at all! I really like her (:

We're so going to have a long way to go together. Let's do this man.

PS : YT, read your recipes before you go to school tomorrow!

I've been taking to Eric just for a bit and I was considering the possibilities of him being my buddy SO I've decided to do the lamest thing on Earth right now, and that's....

TO CREATE THE NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS ONE MUST HAVE TO BE MY BUDDY! :D

I know this sounds stupid, plus it's not like I get to choose the perfect buddy in the world SO, I hope that I can compromise with my buddy and he/she can do the same and then we'd be leading a very happy life in the kitchen! :D

I know it'll work things out, just that this stupid requirement thing is LAME, but it's a MUST HAVE. Please understand the dire need for something this crucial!

REQUIREMENTS

1. Please have your handphone with you AT ALL TIMES, including times when you're at the toilet when you're doing your business.
--> This is because in case of any emergency, amanda han can contact you and ask for your whereabouts!

2. Please contact me asap if you have either:
a) Difficulty reaching the destinated area on time or;
b) if you are feeling unwell.
--->
This is important and you know it!

3. Always be punctual!
---> I'm sure you don't want me to get into trouble do you?!

4. Inform me bout your whereabouts once in a while.
---> I need assurance ok!

5. Sms me the moment you wake up!
---> So that I'll know that you definitely want to come to school AND to estimate around what time you can get to school and if you'd be late!

6. Please remember your deadlines and oh, help remind each other :D
---> I'm sure you'd be nice to do something like that for all of us :D

7. Don't get me into trouble for either doing something wrong OR forgetting your deadlines OR for being late OR for not coming to school without some weird reason.
---> I'd just die.

8. I know they're getting repeatative so all I want to say is, please be punctual at all times, be responsible and of course, keep your handphone with you at all times. I'm serious.

I'll do my part to fulfill all the requirements above so it's up to you bud! :D These are pretty simple and standard and I'm so sure tons of people hope for something like that tooooo! :D

If any of the requirements are not met, I will personally kill you and maybe we should have this whole punishment thing like you giving me a treat or something. WE NEED TO PUNISH WHEN NECESSARY!!!

Yours faithfully,
Your future buddy, Amanda.

You guys are soooooo free to take these down and add on to your lists and stuff.
I'm so lame.

PS : I'll always be there for you weichan(:

I've been thinking about something for quite some time, ever since my mom mentioned this one sentence.

'The reason why Japanese/Korean fashion can't get into Singapore is because of people like YOU who can't accept things like that.'

To be honest, I associate everything to do with Japanese and Korean fashion to be 'C'. I mean, there are tons of girls out there who are Jap/Korean wannabes and they think that they will stand out if they dress such that they don't look like Singaporeans.

Surprisingly, there are MORE MALE wannabes than females and I admit, I tend to stereotype against people like these, classifying them under the same roof as 'C'. I try not to associate with any as much as I can and of course, don't follow their fashion styles because I don't want to be mistaken for a C myself.

But after pondering for some time regarding what my mum said to me, I asked myself: hey, does it even matter?

It might not be wise to mimic any form of extreme dressing style, but is it worth putting away something you like, just because you're afraid of people mistaking you for something(or someone) you're not?

I'm not saying I'm terribly fond of Japanese or Korean styles; in fact I think those styles aren't always compatible with the average Singaporean female. Consequently, local girls who sport those Japanese or Korean styles may end up looking like "posers", when in actual fact they had no such intention.

On the other hand, to everyone else around me, I might very well be viewed as one of these "wannabes" too! See, I'm wearing everything that is totally unrelated to Cs because I don't want to look like one. I'm usually wearing just a pair of jeans, a tee-shirt, my headset and cuffs because I love the feeling of seeming different. Certain observers may speculate that I dress this way because I'm not proud of my roots, and don't wish to look like a normal "Asian"?

I'll be the first to admit that at times I find myself wondering if I could be of another race; something other than Chinese. Perhaps that's what I like so much about those "pieces of cloth" I hoard in my closet.

One thing i probably regret the most is my poor command of Mandarin. How can I, a Singaporean - no, a CHINESE SINGAPOREAN - NOT be able to speak fluent Mandarin? It might have been the inherent dislike i had for the language. Who knows? =x

Even I don't have the answer to that. Illogical as it may sound, I might actually have disliked Mandarin due to the aversion i felt towards Cs. Come to think of it, I don't really like the idea of despising my own kind, my own race. After all, they're no different from me and they can choose to behave/dress/carry themselves howsoever they choose to, right?

Plus, if you think about it, some of them are, in a sense, better than those like me because they speak Mandarin and hold on to their traditions whereas we sometimes take them for granted.

There are others out there who speak Mandarin at home and yet speak English outside of it. People like Chernyu, YUANTING or Weichan are good examples of such people, but I most certainly do NOT classify them as Cs! It can however be said that most of us (with the exception of Weichan I think) have abandoned some of our Chinese culture and drifted towards western influence because of say, peer pressure? Or the media?

Ok I'm crapping a lot. My brain's kinda dead today, had to wake up really early and stuff and hey, I got my knife set yo ;)

Don't mess with me or I might just test it out on you :D Just kidding! XD

Oh doh, I'm starting to lose interest in my blog again so I haven't been updating regularly. Anyway, it almost feels like a times up for the hols and boy, I've heard so many people say that this is their best holiday ever. Well, I know that my hols were properly used ;)

There's been lots of happenings during my hols and they were mainly baking and cooking to grip hold of my hidden interest ( hahahahhaaha ) and now that I know I have it somewhere, I think I might be able to at least pass my next sem's kitchen practicum or whatever that is.

Anyway, what's there not to like when you can create your own favourite food out of scraps of weird stuff?

Apart from the cooking, there's also exercising of course. Me and weichan and maria and gang (once :X ) went to blade and I swan with weichan and blahblah. Exercising really makes me feel good heh. Like what clement always say, falling down feels great. hahaha.

Oh wells, the end is coming like it always does so... At least it was made good use of! :D

AND!

WEICHAN'S GOING TO BATAM NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! My weichan!!! If I hear anything about her friends not treating her well.... I'D SMASH ALL OF THEM!
